From Fear to Fun: Learning to Love Pronunciation

Many teachers avoid teaching pronunciation because it seems difficult, or because they feel their own accent is ‘not good enough’. But what if we’ve got the wrong idea about the nature and purpose of pronunciation? Perhaps a different perspective can show us that we have nothing to fear. In this talk, we will see that pronunciation is something that you and your learners can find enjoyable, something that can bring classes to life. We will see that it can bring great benefits for listening as well as speaking skills. And last but not least, we will see that having a ‘non-standard’ accent is absolutely not a problem for teaching this fascinating aspect of English.
